What is Pulse Circuits?

Pulse Circuit is an electronic circuit or a part of an electronic test equipment that is used to generate rectangular based pulses.

Pulse Circuits are used essentially for working with digital circuits, related function generators are used basically for Circuits that are analog. 

An electromagnetic signal not only carries information around, it also describes the present condition of the Circuit. The operating functions of any Circuit can be studied by the signal that it produces. 

The Pulse Shape is formed by a fast or sudden temporary change from a baseline value to a higher or lower level value, which goes back to the same baseline value after a certain period of time. Such a signal can be referred to as a Pulse Signal.

A Pulse Signal is a unidirectional, non-sinusoidal signal that is very similar to a square signal but it is not symmetrical the same as a square wave. A series of continuous pulse signals is simply referred to as a pulse train.

Features of Pulse Circuits

Features and Characteristics of a Pulse Signal:

1. Pulse Width: This is used to refer to the length of the pulse that travels through the pulse circuit.

2. Period of a Waveform: The period of the waveform is used to refer to the measurement from any point of the Pulse circuit on one cycle to the same point on the next cycle in the Pulse Circuit.

3. Duty Cycle: The duty cycle of a pulse circuit is simply the ratio of the pulse width to the period or duration of the circuit.

4. Rise Time: The rise time is used to refer to the time that it takes for the pulse to rise from 10% to 90% of its maximum amplitude.

5. Fall Time: This is the time signal that it takes to fall from 90% to 10% of its maximum amplitude.

6. Overshoot: This is said to have happened when the leading edge of a waveform goes past its normal maximum value.

7. Undershoot: This is said to have occurred when the trailing edge of a waveform goes past its normal maximum value.

8. Ringing: Both undershoot and overshoot are accompanied by damped oscillations that is known as ringing.
