What Are Optical Networks?

Optical Networks are the telecommunication networks with very high capacity built on optical technologies and elements and are used to map, train, and restore wavelength levels.

It combines lots of unrelated Analog or Digital signal streams into one signal over a single shared medium of transmissions, such as a single conductor of copper wire or fiber optic cable. Therefore, demultiplex is changing a signal that contains multiple analog or digital signal streams back into the original separate and unrelated signals.

5. Optical Switch: An optical switch is a device that selectively switches optical signals on or off or from one channel to the other.

6. Optical Amplifier: An Optical amplifier is basically a kind of electronic device that increases an optical signal straight, without needing to first change it to an electrical signal. An Optical amplifier can be thought of as a laser without an optical cavity, or one in which feedback from the cavity is contained.
