Mobile devices that run on iOS get's upgraded quite frequently and from experience, we find out that at least one version of the iPhone and iPad is released every year. currently, we have the iPhone 11 that was recently launched which has its predecessors Similarly, the iPad has evolved from iPad (1st Generation) to a more recent version which has evolved greatly together with other versions of iPad Mini.

The iOS SDK has greatly evolved from 1.0, the latest iOS SDK is the only officially supported version in Xcode 4.5 and higher. We have a rich Apple documentation with which we can find the various methods and libraries that can be used based on our deployment target in iOS development. In the latest version of Xcode, software developers will be able to choose between various deployment targets of all the supported iOS versions.

The number of users that are using iPhone/iPad has increased a great deal since 2007. This alone opens up a great opportunity for software developers to make money by creating applications for iPhone and iPad and deploying it to Apple's App Store.

For someone that is new to iOS, Apple has designed an app store where its users can buy apps that have been developed for their iOS devices. A developer can deploy both free and paid apps to the App Store. To develop an application and distribute to the store, the software developer will be required to register with iOS developer program which will cost them approximately $99 a year and a Mac with Mountain Lion installed or higher for its development with the latest version of Xcode.
